Since most of my shooting takes place on-location and since more & more of it is happening further from my home area I wanted to have a place where I could check in to post in a more informal manner.

This site / blog should become more active once I head out to Portland, Oregon in February to shoot the Portland Cello Project project. I have an increasing number of documentary & commercial shoots that will see me in Portland, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Honolulu and New York in addition to shoots closer to home in Chicago & the Quad Cities.

I am thankful for the opportunities that are made possible by all of my clients! While my most recent experience with air travel has left me a bit soured to the idea I am quickly “getting over it” in anticipation of what’s on the schedule for 2008. When I am traveling I will work to update the blog as often as possible.

If I were to share the details right now I’m afraid that it would be a rant as opposed to a review. I, however, would like to take this opportunity to thank the part-time airline (in Lihue) US Airways for putting me up in fine fashion after the chaos created by a mechanical problem in the plane. I give you the Tip Top Motel:

Perhaps one of these days I’ll take on a project specifically geared toward telling a story about an aspect of December 7, 1941. In a world where September 11, 2001 seems to be losing some of it’s impact I think it is important to remember the original day of infamy. One event is no more or less important than the other. Both came as a surprise to the masses. Both had consequences around the world. Both changed the course of history and many thousands died in the process. The image, below with the flag, came from the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. I shot this image when I last visited home in 2003. The other two images, above & below, were shot this past October when I spent the afternoon in DC visiting, among other landmarks, the WWII Memorial.

It took close to 13 hours but it was a good drive to Denver, Colorado where I am spending Thanksgiving with family & friends! There was a good snow here last night that has left the area, including the Rockies, covered in white adding a proper accent to what I consider the real kick-off to the Holiday Season. I understand that the Midwest got it today. Snow for everybody!

Thank you for visiting the Travel Uncommon blog. Among the many things for which I am thankful your visiting the site is an important addition to the list.

I was in the city for 10 days and had two very different experiences:

1. As a representative of Pictage working the booth at the Photo Plus Expo in Manhattan.
2. As a freelance photographer working with VII Photo Agency to create a photo documentary in Brooklyn.

I am planning to summarize both legs of my stay in the near future. For now I want to thank Pictage, VII Photo Agency and my cousin Marni. Without them the trip would not have happened. Special thanks to Marni who found space for me on the floor of her Brooklyn apartment and had to deal with my nightly doubts about the project I was working on!
